CollegeClassifieds.com has created a Google Custom Search Engine to provide the best possible results for our users. So, go ahead and simply type a word or phrase in the search box space. You will find the search box space throughut the site. Upper or lower case is not important. If you don't know how to spell an entire word, then just type the part you know how to spell.

You can also enter a college name such as "Emory U" or a city, a state, a zip, or just about anything. So, if you are looking for and search upon the phrase "jobs in 300", you will see results matching job listings for the zip code which starts with "300." However, you may also see ads which are outside of your criteria, as numeric information can be found in phone numbers also.

Results may include ads that do not contain your search criteria, but are targeted to categories, zip codes, city and state names found in your search criteria. For example searching on the city name of "Atlanta" will return ads which do not contain the word "Atlanta" but are targeted to college located in or near "Atlanta."

For a good primer on RSS Feeds, check out Wikipedia's information on RSS. This will give you some idea of it's uses.

To obtain an RSS feed for your college or a specific category, just browse the site, starting on the main page - choose a state, then a campus, and then a category if you desire.

All you have to do is click the blue RSS icon to view the feed, or right click to copy the feed and paste that into your favorite RSS reader.

You do not need to register in order to browse or reply to ads. Simply click the headline for the ad you want to read. If you want to reply, just click the reply link or icon. Very simple. You should of course, provide contact information about yourself in your reply. Otherwise, the advertiser cannot contact you.

Each reply is queued for a spam and fraud review, which involves a cursory administrative "glance". If your reply is for your new and improved erectile disfunction drug site, the advertiser will never see it because we will delete it.

After clearing the spam and fraud review, the advertiser will receive an email alert.

You should know that we show the advertiser the city, state and country from which your internet session originated. This allows the advertiser to more easily determine if your reply is valid, or simply the latest ad for making a gazillion bucks from home, or just spam. In fact, the site is coded to the strictest XHTML standards, (XHTML 1.0 STRICT). The site is tested on Windows XP Professional as a base model, using Internet Explorer and Firefox. On Mac OS X, the site is tested on Safari and Firefox. We don't post a page until it looks the same in every one of those browsers. Additionally, disable the Norton Firewall stuff and don't use an anonymous web proxy. We don't allow pop ups, pop unders, pop overs nor pop tarts on this property. You can darn well bet if you are seeing any of that, then your computer was infected prior to visiting this site (see above section on upgrading to a virus free Apple Mac OS X machine). Understand that Norton and other similar products may block a page simply for having the word "advertising" or "ads" in the URL of the site. Go figure - they call that a feature.

Just click the link, at the * very top * of this page. Free ads can also include up to four (4) pictures. You can also, use this link to start your free ad. Once registered and logged in, you will have a menu with options to finish the placement of your ad.

You can add up to four pictures with each free classified ad listing. All pictures are briefly scanned by an administrator to ensure that the picture is appropriate for the ad you are listing and the category you have selected (in other words, we don't want porn and we don't want to be served with legal requests from lawyers at Tiffany's because you've ripped off one of thier pictures.)

Bottom line: Upload a relevant picture with your ad for best results - people like 'dem purty piktures. ;-)

To stop or cancel an ad, you must of course have an account. It's fast, free and easy. Once you have set up your account and signed in, you can start, or stop (pause) an ad which you have placed on your account.

If you already have an account and are logged in now, scroll to the top of this page, and look just under the orange search bar where you can click the "My Account" link. Clicking "My Account" will load your current and previous ads as well as other options. When your account page loads, press the "PAUSE" icon or link to pause/stop your ad. Pausing the ad is the same as stopping the ad. The two terms are used synonymously.

To remove a listing, just pause it (stop it). You can only delete a listing (even expired listings), if the listing has not been viewed by any other user. Usually, after the first couple of hours, a listing has been viewed and thus, cannot be deleted - but rather it can only be stopped. The item will remain in your listing history.

The most common reason why your ad is not listed is usually because you did not complete the placement and registration process. That means registering with a valid email address and then completing your registration by logging in with your email address and the pass code sent to your email address.

Once entered and logged in you can then turn on / publish your ad.

Also, as with other listing services, such as CraigsList.org, even after you receive your pass code and log into your account, YOU NEED TO ACUTALLY CHOOSE TO PUBLISH THE AD. It is not automatic. All you have to do is click the green publish button on your menu page for each ad listing you want to publish.

Another common reason why your ad may not be shown is that you have intentionally picked the wrong category for your "make a million bucks at home" ad. In which case, we've deleted it and probably closed your account.

No. It's called "the internet," not the "fax-er-net." Please, upgrade your method of doing business.

It's simply not possible to provide an answer to that question. It depends entirely upon the content and relevancy of your ad. But we have seen some really fantastic and precise search results on Google,^® Yahoo^®, Ask^® and MSN^® which bring people to this site. It's not just students, but the vast majority of ad replies that we scan are from people who state that they are college students, or of college age.

And we want to make a million dollars without having to work for it.

No dice. You must have a working email address to use this service. No exceptions and no begging please. Any requests to get around this will simply be ignored.

Listings on this site are reviewed by an administrator(s). We do not concern ourselves with the text of your ad, spelling, punctuation or any other edit function - that's your responsibility.

If an ad looks as though it is an effort to solicit traffic for another site, or if the ad originates from a suspicious location (country or black listed IP address) then it will probably be rejected. We are under no obligation to inform you of this choice. Additionally all ads are reviewed for placement within your selected category in order to maintain relevancy.

Other reasons why your ad may have been rejected or removed could be related to duplicate listings or improper targeting (global vs. local). We do not allow duplicate listings. Global targeting is available for specific types of ads. For example, if you operate an eBay^® site where you sell electronics, you should target your ad globally because anyone, anywhere can shop the store and order (although you do not have to do this). Another example where global targeting is useful is if you are looking for help or employees and are willing to accept applications from anywhere in the country (not just in your area). Summer job listings often find this useful.

If you are looking for a roommate in your area, you do not need to use global targeting. In fact, the ad will be rejected if you do choose global targeting in this case. Another example where global targeting is * not * appropriate is if you are trying to find an employee and do not want applications from outside of your local area, city, town or state.

No, no and no. Trust us on this, we will take it down and block your account. Our goal is relevancy, relevancy, relevancy. It is our policy to make sure that the effort we expend to bring students to this site is not wasted. What does that mean? It means filling up a category with duplicate listings just to rise above the crowd of ads will NOT be tolerated.

If you really want to rise above the crowd, all you have to do is purchasse some paid advertising

To post an ad on CollegeClassifieds.com you must have an email address and that should be easy. There are no exceptions to this rule. Once you are registered, you cannot change your email address without submitting a request on this page. Even then, your new email address must be verified. Again, no exceptions.

It's easy. All we ask for is your name, email address, and zip code. You can use this link to create a new account and receive your pass code.

When you sign up (create an account), your pass code is generated and sent immediately. We use Google for our email service and it is one of the most widely accessible email services in the world.

If you did not receive your pass code via email check your "spam" or "junk" folder. Then, consider if you accidentally (or "accidentally on purpose") made a typo in your email address. If you did, then you should register again with the correct email address. We will not attempt to correct your email address for you.

Some ISP's and email services can be difficult to work with and may restrict third parties from sending email. If your provider falls into this category, please contact your provider.

• ...match the profile of a pet adoption scam artist (see this link)
  
• ...place that work at home/in your spare time/in your dorm/make a million bucks ad (read: passion parties, new sports drink, on line shopping mall, stuffing envelopes, MLM/Distributorships, the newest "facebook" opportunity) in a category other than "Jobs > Alternative / From Home," - even just once!

We provide a darn good free service. Don't abuse it. When your card is pulled, your email address is locked out of our system for good and can not be used again. Sure, you can easily get another free address from Yahoo or Google, or wherever. But don't worry, that one can be blocked too if you abuse it. It takes us one simple click to block your fancy new email address. How many clicks does it take to get a new one? It's not worth it, so don't abuse it.

All banner ads will run until the "bill of sale" has been fulfilled (the required number of impressions). For example, if your banner ad is for 25,000 impressions, the listing will continue to appear until it has been shown 25,000 times, matching your criteria (run of site or by target selection).
